Answers to Your Questions

How do I create a listing on SeaBuddy?

Sign up for a free Seller or Broker account, then navigate to your dashboard and select Create New Listing. Fill in your vessel details, upload high resolution photos, set your asking price, and submit for editorial review. Approved listings go live within 1 to 2 business days.

How does SeaBuddy verify listings?

Our editorial team reviews every submitted listing for accuracy, appropriate categorization, and photo quality. For boats priced above $50,000 we may request supporting documentation such as a current survey, bill of sale, or USCG documentation. Verified listings receive a badge visible to all buyers.

Is it free to list my boat?

Yes. The Free plan allows one active listing with up to 10 photos. For multiple listings, video uploads, featured placement, and priority lead notifications, our Premium Seller and Broker plans offer expanded capabilities. See our Membership page for full details.

How do I contact a seller?

On any listing page, use the Contact Seller form in the sidebar. Your message is sent securely to the seller and a copy is logged in your account. SeaBuddy does not share your contact details until you and the seller choose to exchange them directly.

What types of boats can I list on SeaBuddy?

SeaBuddy specializes in classic, vintage, antique, and traditional boats. This includes wooden runabouts, traditional sailing yachts, vintage motor yachts, antique workboats, and historically significant fiberglass boats from the mid century era. Modern production boats are not accepted.

Does SeaBuddy handle payments or escrow?

SeaBuddy is a marketplace and does not process payments or act as escrow. All financial transactions are conducted directly between buyer and seller. We strongly recommend using a licensed marine escrow service and obtaining an independent survey before completing any purchase.

What is a boat survey and do I need one?

A marine survey is an independent inspection conducted by a certified surveyor who evaluates the structural, mechanical, and safety condition of a vessel. Surveys are highly recommended for any purchase over $5,000 and are typically required by marine lenders and insurers. We can recommend accredited surveyors in our Help section.

How do I report a suspicious or inaccurate listing?

On any listing page, click the Report Listing link at the bottom of the sidebar. Describe the issue and our team will investigate within 24 hours. Listings found to violate our guidelines are removed and sellers may be suspended.

Can brokers manage multiple listings under one account?

Yes. The Broker and Dealer plan supports unlimited simultaneous listings, a branded broker profile page, bulk import tools, and a dedicated account manager. Apply through the Membership page or contact our broker team directly.

How do I delete or relist my boat after it sells?

Log in to your dashboard, navigate to My Listings, and mark the listing as Sold. You can also permanently delete the listing from there. If you acquire a new vessel to sell, simply create a new listing from your dashboard at any time.
